In this post you will see how to enable new Software Center in SCCM 1511. If you have installed or upgraded your configuration manager environment to 1511, then your ConfigMgr 1511 comes with a new version of Software Center. There are several advantages to this new version.

In SCCM 1511 Software Center has a new, modern look and apps that previously only appeared in the Application Catalog (user-available apps) now appear in Software Center under the Applications tab. This makes these deployments more discoverable to users and removes the need for them to use the Application Catalog. Additionally, a Silverlight enabled browser is no longer required.

Once your client computers have downloaded the new policy, the new software center will be available on the computers. If you don’t see it, then initiate a Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle on your client. You can see the new software center is quiet different from the old one. It has got many other options and a new option called Device Compliance, this is not for Compliance Settings (DCM) it’s for Conditional Access scenarios. Another change is installation directory, when you enable the new software center in SCCM 1511, the installation directory of software center is located at C:> Windows > CCM > ClientUX.

Hi Prajwal, thanks for all this content, really appreciated.

Just a question regarding the New Software Center 1606 on the client. Does this new software center works only on windows 10? I am asking because I have changed the Custom Client Settings policy which contains windows 7 and windows 10, but none of my windows 7 got the new software center, they did get the new SCCM Client version though. Thanks

    • The new software center should be enabled by default on both windows 7 and windows 10. I hope you have enabled new software center ?.

  • No parameter as such but with new versions of SCCM, this should be resolved.
